The desire to achieve “6 pack abs” is so prominent in today’s society. Everyone wants to achieve that rock hard core, but how? How do you go about doing this? The secret is that every human being has abs. We all have abdominal muscles, they are just hidden under layers of fat that have to be exposed in order to see them.
How do you expose this muscle you ask? In order to expose or see your muscles in a defined or toned fashion, you need to have a low level of body fat. The muscles do not expose themselves unless you are lean enough. The secret to losing fat is eating in a calorie deficit. There is a basic amount of calories needed each day that is essential. This term is called your BMR (basal metabolic rate). Intaking a lower amount of calories than this amount, will result in fat and/or weight loss due to your body not receiving the adequate amount of calories needed.
With that being said, it is not healthy to eat in a calorie deficit for a lengthy amount of time as your metabolism will slow down and you will then eventually feel very tired and have no energy to perform day to day tasks. Thus why diets are carried out in time frames.
It is typical that you see bodybuilders or fitness competitors with ripped bodies and rock hard abs. This is because they diet down in a calorie deficit accompanied with hard training for months and months on end. I myself have competed in bodybuilding shows and can speak on the truth of this diet process. I had a six pack but it took me many months of low calorie dieting and hard training to expose my muscle. It is not an easy thing to maintain, thus why body builders have “off seasons”.
Achieving a six pack is no easy task but it can be obtained through strict diet and exercise. It takes intense determination, consistency and then you will see the results. Work on adding core exercises to your workout routines, get your diet in check and you will see a slimmer core in no time.
