Canany Underwater Action Video Camera Review
There are many video cameras that are able to go underwater, from cheap-o models, to cameras that have price tags that will make you break a sweat, but overall, most of us just want to get something that provides good video quality and is available at a great, affordable price. And these days, where there’s so much action to take in with your camera, it would be nice to have a camera that was designed as such, but usually this means the price goes up quite a bit.
I’ve purchased numerous underwater video cameras myself, and some are truly bargain bin quality, while others are super high quality, but I was still on the lookout for that one camera that I could take with me to record some of the water sports I take part in (waterskiing, diving, skimboarding, etc), which could capture all the action, but if I end up breaking it, I wouldn’t be out hundreds of dollars. I do some pretty crazy stunts, and I’ve broken both a few expensive, and cheap cameras in my time. In other words, I needed something that was going to have great video quality, capture lots of action with great sound, color, but wasn’t going to be crazy expensive.
Enter the Canany Underwater Action Video Camera 1080P – which has a lot of exciting features but isn’t going to put you in major debt.

Alright, now that we’ve seen this little camera submerged, let’s go into more detail about the Canany Underwater Action Camera.
Wide Angle Lens – Whether you’re below the sea or not, a wide angle camera really does come in handy when it comes to taking in amazing sights. There are so many panoramic views to take in, and not every video camera is good at that, much less one that functions as an underwater camera. But this Canany model certainly has a wide field of view, and I feel this video camera is excellent for just about anything you point it at. I’ve used it for snorkelling, and I’ve caught some great videos with it.
Video Quality – We’re talking full 1080P here with the Canary Underwater Video Camera, and for the price you pay for this little device, you rarely get this level of quality with other similarly priced cameras. For instance, I’ve seen cameras in this price range that can do 30 FPS, but this one has them beat as it can do 60. That’s a pretty substantial increase in your frame rate, and the difference is quite noticeable. You get tons of detail in your videos, and the colors are anything but dull. The footage you get from this Canany underwater camera is something you can be proud to share with your whole family, or with your “audience” if you’re a YouTuber like me, or someone who likes to share their videos with the world.
Versatile – The one thing I really enjoy with this camera is the number of accessories it comes with, not to mention the other accessories you can add on if you so choose. It comes with a ton of stuff out of the box, such as a waterproof case, several different clips, a helmet mount, stickers, a USB cable, batteries, a manual, a bike mount, belts, wipers…like I said, there’s a LOT. For under $50, this is a great value. This Canany camera is GoPro-compatible, so it truly is an “action” camera. I’ve used this camera to capture many waterskiing videos, and it does a great job. It’s been involved in some wipeouts too, and has survived them no problem, and even captured the drama in the process.
Hardware Quality – As I said, this is a solidly made video camera, and while I do not recommend you test its durability by dropping it on cement intentionally, my Canany camera has survived some falls on its own, and it definitely has survived me wiping out many times, and taking the camera down with it (I’ve broken its fall a few times, to be fair). In fact, I would specifically recommend this camera for any thrill seekers who do crazy things on dry land or under water. This Canany camera will capture it all in vivid color, and all you have to do is… not die!
100% Waterproof Video Camera – In terms of how waterproof this camera is, you can literally leave it in water overnight, and the waterproof housing will protect it. Clearly Canany did their due diligence with this camera when it comes to the waterproofing, because water does not affect this camera whatsoever.
Removable Batteries – Since you get an extra battery with this Canany camera, and it’s removable, you never really need to stop shooting. All in all, you get about an hour’s worth of shooting if you want it at 1080P, and I would say that this is decent for an action camera like this one. I’d say the battery situation is another one of the strengths of this little beauty!
Easy To Use – If you’ve ever used a GoPro, I’d say this is even easier to use, and way, way cheaper as well. Everything is really hassle free, from the instructions you get with the camera, to the menus you’ll be navigating. If anything, watch a 5 minute YouTube video and you’ll be good to go!
Things To Consider:
Fish Eye – A lot of people really do not like the ol’ Fisheye, but I will say that it’s super easy to get rid of. Free software can do it in a jiffy.
More Accessories – I’ve found a ton of cool accessories that work with this camera, including a wide variety of straps. You can really get some interesting POVs, depending on how you attach this camera.
Family Cam – I’ve made a big deal out of the “action” aspect of this camera, because it really is great, but you can also use this to record family picnics no problem, and you won’t be disappointed with the footage you get. That’s why I love the price of this camera. Great value for sure. So whether its a wedding, picnic, crazy white water rafting, or jumping out of a plane, Canany has got you covered here!
Micro SD – Get yourself a Micro SD for this camera. I recommend a class 10.
Overall Impressions Of The Canany Underwater Video Camera
As you can tell, I’m a huge fan of this camera. For underwater adventures like snorkelling, its great. If you’re going deep sea diving, this camera isn’t meant to go into the great depths, but it can make it down about 30 feet. For things like surfing or anything else on top of the water, it’s perfect. For all other land activities, I don’t think you’ll find a better camera at this price. 5 STARS all the way!
