Beach Baby has been online since 2017, when a group of friends and travel buffs had the idea to make a website based on their collective travel experience and love of the beach.

Three friends – Alice, Emilia, and Garth – had been living a digital nomad lifestyle for years, which involved camping and hosteling their way across Europe, and then eventually other parts of the world including the United States, parts of Asia, Australia, and beyond.
But their shared love was of not just of travel, but of blogging, and entrepreneurship.
As they travelled hither and thither, over the years, there was a lot of tethering to different hotspots going on to get online, as they each contributed something special to the blog to grow it into what it is today, which is a thriving beach blog that has been read the world over.
Over the years, the Beach Baby Team has grown slightly, to include 5 writers, 3 researchers, as well as a few people behind the scenes working on the website itself.
Meet The Beach Baby Team!
Alice

Alice is the “original” Beach Baby herself.
Growing up in a small town in Southwestern Ontario that is literally on the beach, she grew up with a sense of living in a place which was, for exactly one third of the year, mega popular, and the rest of the year, in her words, “completely dead”.
However, unlike her friends, who all left town the second they could, Alice stayed behind, learning about the towns’ economy and working in many different beach-related shops during the summer months, and then living with the ennui during the less “fun” months, especially winter.
This gave her a real sense of appreciation for what the beach offers, at all times of the year. Because, by living in this town, she got to be “popular” when tourists came to visit, then isolated the rest of the time.
Thus, she developed a sense of realism towards how small coastal towns operate, understanding that joy comes from within, and not just from lots of people seeming like they’re your friend when the party is raging.
“It’s one thing to visit a town like this when the weather is gorgeous, and another to live in one throughout the year, when there’s no snow plows coming to dig you out.”
Eventually, Alice did spread her wings and got to see the world, but she always feels a strong connection to the place she considers her home.
Emilia

Emilia is the fashion guru of Beach Baby, with a deep appreciation for all things designer and “tres sheik”, as she likes to say.
Some people love clothes just for their aesthetic value, but Emilia actually makes her own clothes, and this includes everything from bikinis, to dresses, to sometimes even shoes.
Her knack for creating wearable things is cool to the point of being uncanny.
Emilia writes a lot of Beach Baby’s content that pertains to beachwear, and accessories that are brought to the beach, such as towels, umbrellas, bags, sunglasses, and so on.
Speaking of sunglasses, Emilia has over 100 pairs of sunglasses. That’s a lot, right? Where does she get them? “People just keep giving me samples!” is her stock answer, but we’ve seen her buy many a pair, including one pair of polarized shades for a sum we dare not mention!
Sariya
Sariya is our resident tanning expert. Being Turkish, she has a tendency to tan easily, and she loves her skin when it has that tanned appearance. There are plenty of beaches in Turkey, and she loves her country for that reason – lots of great places to lay in the sun.
At the same time, Sariya minored in chemistry, and has a keen interest in the science behind tanning. So, when it comes to various lotions and bronzers, Siriya knows a thing or two. As much as she loves her tan, she knows that sun safety is also very important.
She has written a number of articles now on tanning, which includes some more organic natural options as well. She loves visiting the tanning bed and relaxing in there with a nice pair of goggles.
Garth

Garth is a former banker turned globe trotter and avid camper and snorkeler as well as scuba diver.
He loves camping under the stars, whether it’s at the beach or anywhere where he can see a great canopy of twinkling lights above him.
Garth has an ARB Simpson III rooftop tent and he’s often on the road, playing gigs with his Grateful Dead cover band, doing solo shows, or just driving around the United States in his truck, usually travelling in the far left lane of any given highway and driving at exactly 30 over the posted speed limit.
He’s also big into snorkelling, which is why you’ll find a fairly extensive diving and scuba section on this website. Most of the travel articles featuring scuba and snorkelling destinations are him as well, and there are more to come, as he feels it is his solemn duty now to report on great places to go snorkelling, and pitch a tent.
One more thing we should mention about Garth, that not everyone knows, but he loves tanning – and he can toast himself to a very deep golden brown when the time is right.
Patrick

Patrick has the record of travelling the most out of everyone, visiting over 30 countries around the world in 15 years, and sleeping in the most tents with the least amount of blankets and cushions. He’ll literally sleep on anywhere!
A few countries Peru has lived in include India, Mexico, Tanzania, and Morocco, and currently he lives in Peru.
Peru is one of those people that manages to go to a lot of countries that you would think you couldn’t even get into, but somehow he’s there, and he manages to escape unscathed. Some might say it’s his natural charm that gets him in and out of certain situations.
A few job that Peru has had in his life include yoga instructor, bicycle repair person, Skeleton Coast tour guide in Namibia, owner of an ecommerce website that sold exclusively pop up tents, and semi pro dirt biker.
Janis

Janis is the foodie, and resident nutritional and fitness expert. She smiles a lot, is fairly quiet, but blessed with exceptional blogging abilities to express nuance in a poetic and sensitive manner.
Janis is loves to study health, and is obsessed with natural supplements and learning about what goes into them and what they do, or don’t do. She went to university for nutrition with a minor in economics.
Out of the Beach Baby Squad, she is the most likely to stay home. She also does the most of the product reviews on this site.
She’s also is a big fan of beach birds, and so she’s visited Christmas Island on several occasions to spend time with some of her feathered friends there.
